Sayangnya, tahun-tahun yang lewat ini seolah jadi sia-sia karena Jack seolah masih tak percaya sementara di sisi lain Greg sendiri pun mulai meragukan apa yang ia yakini sebelumnya. Sebenarnya Jack bermaksud menjadikan Greg sebagai seorang kepala rumah tangga setelah Bob, kandidat pertama Jack, menceraikan istrinya. Jack pun mulai mengamat-amati Greg untuk memastikan ia tak salah pilih. Celakanya, masalah jadi gawat ketika Jack mengira Greg punya hubungan asmara dengan Andi Garcia (Jessica Alba). Jack mulai merasa kalau Greg bukan pilihan yang tepat. Di saat yang sama, Greg juga mulai melancarkan serangkaian aksi untuk membuktikan kalau ia layak menjadi seorang kepala rumah tangga seperti yang diharapkan Jack. Masalah tak berhenti di sana karena Kevin Rawley (Owen Wilson), mantan pacar Pam (Teri Polo), istri Greg, juga datang berkunjung.
